Sometimes one is looking for a ballast configuration to achieve even keel, whereas the draft may vary.
Thus, it would be nice to allow cmp_bal to alter certain degrees of freedom compared to the current system configuration (at least the draft).
Totally agree and I would advise to add an option on the &CMP_BAL command to define which DOF's are to be released.
So if even keel is required, put the vessel with &Instate at even keel. Then do &CMP_BAL @ -REL Z
I would also check if &CMP_BAL will also work in multibody situation with mooring lines, other connections and loads applied.
