Hi, For the mooring analysis, we observed that the windage calculation in MOSES appears to include projected areas located behind other structures, even when those areas are effectively shielded from the wind. For example, in the transverse direction, cargo positioned behind the forecastle deck is still included in the exposed wind area. In practice, these shielded areas would not be fully exposed to the wind and therefore should not contribute to wind forces to the same extent as directly exposed surfaces. As a result, MOSES predicts higher wind forces, leading to increased mooring line tensions and vessel excursions when a CS_WIND value of 1.0 is used. This appears to be conservative when compared with our manual assessment of the effective exposed projected area. To better align the MOSES results with the actual exposed area, our back-calculation indicates that a CS_WIND factor in the range of approximately 0.7 to 0.8 is more representative. However, this requires additional back-calculation for each case. Ideally, the software should account for shielding effects automatically and consider only the effectively exposed projected areas. Areas located behind obstructions should be excluded, or appropriately reduced, in the effective windage calculation. Such an enhancement would provide a more realistic estimation of wind loads while avoiding unnecessary conservatism. In addition, it would be very useful if MOSES could explicitly report the calculated windage area and provide an outline or visual indication of the projected areas contributing to the wind load for each wind direction. This would allow users to verify the exposed area considered in the calculation and improve confidence in the analysis results. Regards, Vivek
