Copy & Paste Surfaces between models in Maxsurf Modeller

Would like to be able to copy surfaces that define geometry such as internal structure, tanks, etc between models. Currently process is to recreate the required surface(s) in the new model, defining the settings (stiffness, etc), updating the rows and columns to match the donor model before copying the donor model control point data and pasting into the new version. Would be very useful for building library of common components.

In Maxsurf 2026, we have made it easier to edit the default surface list

Often you may be wanting to copy several surfaces, in that case:

    1. Save as a new file

    2. Delete all surfaces except the ones you want to be able to copy into other models

    3. Save the file, and Close the model

    4. Open the model into which you wish to insert the surfaces

    5. Open the file you saved in step 3. which contains the surfaces to be copied. But dont close the model before opening.

The simplest way for a single surface is to add it to the "Add surface" list:

    1. Select the surface to be copied

    2. Press the save button, with Shift key depressed

    3. Open the model that you want to insert the surface into (in the same or a new instance of Modeler application)

    4. from the Surfaces | Add Surface menu, select the surface that was added (you may have to go to "List Surfaces ..." if there are more than about 10)

I dont seem to be able to put an image here, Ill try to do a KB article

Try using the option to not close the current model when opening a new model.
