Develop a virtual lid option to suppress irregular frequencies and standing waves between the quayside and the moored vessel, and/or side-by-side moorings, and/or ship-to-ship transfers.
A lid should have at least two properties assigned to it. A lid damping factor, set between 0 and 1, will represent how effective the lid is to be; 0 will result in no effect, while 1 will prevent any vertical water surface velocity under the lid.
The second parameter is the lid gap. It is a representative size for the lid; usually the distance between the quayside and the vessel, or the distance between the two vessels, or the width/diameter of a moon-pool. It enables the lid properties to be tuned to the resonant frequency of waves in the gap.
